From Burnout to Balance

A free 17-page guide for people who are still getting everything done, and paying for it.

You're the reliable one. Deadlines get met, people get taken care of, the plates keep spinning. From the outside it looks like you're managing. But inside, you're running on fumes and quietly wondering how long you can keep this up.

This guide is for that gap.

7 strategies for the capable and depleted

What's inside

Seven strategies for recovering your energy, written for adults with real jobs and real obligations, not for people with a free month and a meditation retreat budget. Each one includes what it actually looks like in practice and how to start small.

You'll work through:

  • How to tell burnout apart from stress, depression, and ordinary tiredness, so you're solving the right problem

  • Why rest sometimes doesn't work, and what to do when sleep isn't fixing the exhaustion

  • The four kinds of tired, and how to match recovery to the type of depletion you're in

  • Boundaries you can hold without a difficult conversation for every single one

  • What to do with the part of you that treats slowing down as a threat

  • How to reconnect with what you actually want, underneath the obligations

  • A plan for the next two weeks that survives contact with a normal Tuesday

You'll also get the What's on Your Plate worksheet, a companion tool for mapping where your energy is going right now. Most people find the picture clarifying and slightly alarming.

Who wrote this

I'm Jenna McGonegal, MSW, RSW, a burnout and anxiety therapist in Guelph, working with clients in person and virtually across Ontario and Nova Scotia. Most of them are capable, responsible people who are very tired of having to be.

I know that pull well. Striving, people-pleasing, doing it all myself rather than asking. I'm further from it than I was, and rest is still something I have to be deliberate about.
